The Crest Collection

Introducing the T&B Crest Collection. Classic designs inspired by a quirky cat signet ring that I found antiquing in London years ago. Upon researching the unusual antique ring further, I discovered that the cat imagery was actually a Scottish family crest and that many historical family crests featured the most interesting animal motifs and mottos. The designs and the messages that accompanied them spoke to me, offering gentle reminders and encouragement. I love the idea of these historical images, traditionally tied to class and passed down within families, instead being chosen by the wearer simply for the beauty in the designs and the significance of the messages. I decided to pick a few of my favorites and create a mini collection for Thistle & Bess.

Cat Crest

“TOUCH NOT A CAT BUT A GLOVE”

Based off of the Scottish Macpherson family crest and motto, which is basically a warning that the wearer is not to be messed with.

Greyhound Crest

“I HOPE TO SHARE”

Based off of the Scottish Riddell family crest and motto. A lovely reminder to share your good fortune with those around you.

Bee Crest

“A GREAT AMOUNT IN A SMALL SPACE”

Based off of the Scottish Congilton family crest and motto. A wonderful reminder that the small can still be mighty.

Hand Holding Rose Crest

“ROSES PLUCKED GIVE SWEET SMELL”

The image and motto is based on the Scottish Aiton Family Crest. An encouraging message to take action and go after the things you want in life.

Swan Crest

“BE MINDFUL”

Based off of the Scottish Campbell of Cawdor family crest and motto. The graceful swan is a beautiful symbol reminding us to slow down and be more mindful of our surroundings.
